EAST-FACING COASTAL RETREAT – RENOVATION & EXTENSION

 

What began as an old asbestos beach shack has been completely reimagined through an extensive renovation and thoughtful extension, transforming the home into a bright, open and inviting coastal retreat. Positioned on an east-facing block overlooking the natural beauty of Wilsons Promontory, the design focuses on capturing the views and enhancing the connection to the landscape.

Built on a sloping site, the home was elevated on piers and posts to maintain sightlines across the property and maximise the stunning outlook. The extension opened the layout to an airy open-plan design, creating seamless flow between living, dining and outdoor spaces.

 

The entire build was completed to BAL 29 compliance, featuring durable lightweight cladding and BAL 29–rated timber decking to ensure bushfire resilience without compromising the coastal aesthetic. Every interior space was renewed, including a brand-new ensuite, kitchen and fully upgraded amenities throughout. The result is a completely modernised home that retains its beachside character while offering improved comfort, functionality and long-term durability.
